October 19 - Sicilian Wine Dinner with Firriato Estates – Sold Out
This is a “must attend” Wine Dinner as it features the authentic and delicious wines of Firriato Estates. And we have the two owners, Irene Di Gaetano Lombardo di Monte Iato and Federico Lombardo di Monte Iato, from Sicily leading this special event. As you know, Solare is a Southern Italian restaurant and we have a focus on Sicily … and this is one of the top Sicilian wineries that we love. Firriato Estates have vineyards in the Sicilian province of Trapani and on the slopes of Mount Etna – which is arguably the hottest region in Italy for wine right now. There are 5 classic Firriato wines being poured and Chef Accursio has designed a 4-course menu to accompany the wines. Petra, Accursio, Bruno Cumar, and I just tasted the wines again and planned the pairings. The price is $84/person — the Dinner starts at 6:45pm and there is a Reception at 6:15pm. Seating is limited. Reserve now! – Sold Out

October 16 - Baja Chefs on the Point 2016
Baja Chefs! In Liberty Station!! And Solare will be doing the pre-event Cooking Class! This is the 2nd annual charity benefit for Dewey Elementary School in Point Loma — Baja Chefs on the Point 2016. Featuring the chefs, cuisine, and wines of Baja California’s wine country, the Valle de Gaudalupe. It is an afternoon of music, food, and wine with some of Baja California’s best restaurants and chefs. Building on the success of the addition of a Math and Science lab at Dewey Elementary in 2015, the Optimist Club Foundation of Point Loma is seeking to expand the new lab into a full-fledged STEAM program. The addition of Technology, Arts and Engineering to the Science and Math lab will provide the Dewey student with a well-rounded education. Specifically, the Foundation is raising funds to provide computers and books for the expansion of the School library; a Makerbot starter kit for exploration of engineering and technology; and art supplies to expand the students creativity. This is a 21 and up event. Click here for tickets.

October 09 - San Diego Italian Film Festival ~ “Shores of Light” Dinner/Film
Join Solare as we help support the San Diego Italian Film Festival and Jewish Film Festival to celebrate the sharing of the two cultures featured in the documentary film, “Shores of Light”. There is a team of fabulous Italian chefs (go Chef Accursio!) in recreating the spirit of rebirth for two war-devastated communities: Jewish Holocaust survivors and Pugliese villagers. Between 1945 and 1947 survivors streamed into Puglia to await blockade-running ships to Palestine. They found an amazing welcome. Click here for all the details.
