December 22 - Odd Bins! ~~ Help us finish off some great wines!!

Do you love wine? Well – we buy a lot (understatement) of great wines from all across Italy and all along the west coast of North America. Petra, Tommy, and I just did an inventory of our wine cellar — and we have lots of wine where we have just one or two bottles left. With just one or two bottles, we really can’t place them on our wine list – so now is the time to finish them off. And we need your help! So on this evening (and Wednesday, December 28 also) we will be opening many-many bottles and offering fun eclectic tasting flights at bargain prices. Here’s how it works: From 5pm to closing we will have a large selection of wines available in tasting pours. Some of the 3oz pours are just $2! We also have a couple surprise “high-end” wines that we decided to include to spice things up! If you like wine – you can’t miss this. ~~ Contact us for more details of just stop in!

December 10 - Liberty Station 2nd Annual Holiday Block Party

FREE Sicilian Butternut Squash Soup at Solare!   Yes – as Santa’s sleigh touches down in the neighborhood, join Liberty Station’s merrymakers and artisans as they ready their shops, restaurants (Go Solare!) and galleries for the most wonderful time of the year. While festive tunes of carolers fill the historic archways and plazas, revelers are invited to salute the season with a joyous evening of activities and entertainment. From an outdoor ice rink, holiday gifting pop-up market, kid-friendly adventures and a bounty of festive flavors and sips, head to Liberty Station this season to celebrate the creative community within our historic naval-base-turned-neighborhood!   FREE 4:30pm to 7:30pm.   Click here for more details.

December 07 - Italian Truffle Dinner – Incredible!

Italian Truffles are coming … Italian Truffles are coming! Yes, the Truffle Season just started and we are announcing this amazing dinner to highlight these freshly hand-foraged truffles from the countryside of Italy. You know we love doing Truffle Dinners … the combo of the truffles with Chef Accursio’s dishes … wow!    And everything needs to be perfectly timed … as the great Italian truffles are freshly foraged by hand and are air shipped to arrive no more than a day or two before the dinner. And they are so aromatic and delicious. 

The dinner is Wednesday, December 7. We just finalized all the logistics and pricing with the Truffle Hunter in Italy, and the price for the dinner is $185 … it is 5-courses (6 courses with the amuse bouche) … and it starts at 7pm. Seating is limited to 16 persons and we are doing the dinner in our private Prana Room. I will be joining the dinner … no doubt! . November 20 - San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival — Tommy and Alex Compete ~ Cocktails!

Come have great Cocktails and Pizza at the Pizzapalooza Event on Sunday, Nov 20. The event features 2 things: great artisanal pizza chefs …and a fun San Diego Cocktail Competition (Battle of the Bartenders). Tommy (Solare master mixologist) and Alex Nunez (awesome Solare lead bartender) were invited to compete. Yes, we were invited – we do do delicious craft cocktails at Solare.

The event is from 11am to 2pm at the Broadway Pier & Pavilion. The price is $55 and all the details are here. I hope to see you at the event, and you can have great pizza, cocktails, and cheer Tommy and Alex on to victory!

November 19 - San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival — Grand Tasting

Solare is delighted to be part of the San Diego Bay Wine+Food Fest Grand Tasting on Saturday, Nov 19. It is (by far) the largest and most fun wine event in the area. We have a “booth” at the event with tastes of great Solare food … and (the awesome) Chef Accursio will be competing for the Best Chef Award. Let’s do it!

The Grand Finale of the sizzling seven-day festival is the star-studded Lexus Grand Tasting on the Embarcadero Marina Park North behind Seaport Village. Take in the beautiful San Diego Bay and enjoy the ocean breeze as you partake in the largest, most talked about wine and food festival in Southern California. Early Entry is 11am and “normal” entry is 12pm. The event goes to 3pm.

150 Wine & Spirit Purveyors – With over 700 different wines being poured at this year’s Lexus Grand Tasting, we challenge you to pick out just one favorite! Taste from a wide range of domestic and international wineries, discover new labels to add to your home collection, and visit old favorites.
