We love doing Cooking Classes here at Solare!

Our Cooking Classes offer a truly hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen allowing each student to create Italian cuisine themselves to make at home.  Our classes are not just a “demonstration”.

  • May 25 – Seafood Italian-style
  • June 1 – Pizza from Scratch!
  • June 15 – Cooking Meat Italian-style (Father’s Day weekend)
  • June 29 – Pasta from Scratch
  • July 6 – Lasagna with Maria
  • July 20 – Authentic Gnocchi & Pesto

The classes are held pretty much every other Saturday, and the fun typically starts at 10:30am at Solare (10am for some classes) with an Italian-style coffee of your choice.  Italian wine is served for students interested in “cooking with wine”.

The Classes do sell out fast due to the limited size.

<a id="Solare-Silver-Oak-Wine-Dinner"></a>Silver Oak Wine Dinner!

May 23 - Silver Oak Wine Dinner!

This is exciting! We have Silver Oak here at Solare next Thursday, May 23. Wow!!

As you likely know – Silver Oak is a legend in Napa Valley with their Cabernet Sauvignon wines and more.

Click here to request your reservation or please call us at 619-270-9670.

We are delighted to let you know that we have their 2018 Napa Cab – and the 2018 vintage was rated 99 out of 100 by Wine Spectator.

Everything started in 1972 when Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer teamed up to create their first vintage wine (Alexander Valley).  Their strong focus was pure Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak became one of the top in all of Napa. The Duncan family added the name, Twomey, to their portfolio to include the varietals of pinot noir, merlot, and sauvignon blanc.

Exec Chef Denice Grande is designing a very special menu for this evening.

<a id="Solare-Dunn-Vineyards-Wine-Dinner"></a>Dunn Vineyards Wine Dinner!

May 09 - Dunn Vineyards Wine Dinner!

We have Dunn Vineyards here on Thursday, May 9, for an epic Wine Dinner.

Yes, Kara Dunn is here to lead this wine dinner. And we were able to work our connections to get the (now famous) 2019 Howell Mountain cabernet sauvignon. This wine is rated #6 in the world for 2023 by Wine Spectator.

Click here to request your reservation or please call us at 619-270-9670.

Since 1979, Randy Dunn and family have owned and operated Dunn Vineyards and continue to produce some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain and the Napa Valley.  As Randy was starting his own winery, he was also the winemaker at Caymus.

We also were able to work our connections to get magnums of their 2013 cab – excited!

Note: This is is priced higher that normal, but is definitely well worth it for these very prestigious wines and the opportunity to be with Kara Dunn as she leads the evening.

We are featuring 6 wines including new wines from Retro Cellars (Mike and Kara Dunn).

Exec Chef Denice Grande is designing the menu focused on really complementing these epic (epic!) wines.

Here are the details:

<a id="Solare-Meyer-Family-Wine-Dinner"></a>Wine Dinner - Meyer Family Cellars

April 25 - Wine Dinner – Meyer Family Cellars

Guess what?! Special Wine Dinner on Thursday, April 25. It’s California! It includes Cabs from Bonny’s Vineyard in Oakville (Napa).

We have owner & winemaker, Karen Meyer of Meyer Family Cellars, here to lead this wine dinner.

Click here to request your reservation or please call us at 619-270-9670.

Solare has been a Huge Fans of Meyer Family wines and we are so excited to have Karen herself lead the dinner. Watch the short video above (from Verona) and the second video below with Karen.

A special highlight is their wine from Bonny’s Vineyard in Oakville, Napa. Arguably some of the best cabs you will have from Napa. You will try them during this dinner.

And – as you may know, Justin Meyer started Silver Oak winery with Raymond Duncan in 1972. Justin Meyer later sold his share in the winery – and Matt and Karen Meyer now run the estates and the Meyer Family winery.

Bonny’s Vineyard was once part of the property owned by Silver Oak Cellars and was particularly renowned for producing an exclusive, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon under the Silver Oak label. That quality continues with Meyer Family.

Exec Chef Denice Grande is designing the menu focused on really complementing these wines.

Here are the details:

  • April 25, Thursday
  • 6:30pm Reception
  • $89 includes the 4-course special pairing dinner and select Meyer Family Cellar wines
  • Seating available both inside Solare and on our heated patios
  • RSVP asap – limited seating

Here is a very short video with Karen Meyer and Chef Denice Grande.
