July 30 - Cooking Class – Authentic Pizza from Scratch

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make pizza in the authentic style from the renowned city of Napoli? How about a tasty Sfincione from Sicily; Focaccia from Liguria? Here is your perfect opportunity — Pizza Chef Brian will guide you through each step – starting with making the dough from scratch. Each student will take home extra dough to show off their pizza making skills that evening at home! The fun starts at 10:30am at Solare with an Italian-style coffee of your choice and a pastry. July 27 - Wine Dinner with Ocean Beach Winery, Gianni Buonomo Vintners

Yes, there is a great “urban winery” right here in Ocean Beach! Gianni Buonomo Vintners. The owner and winemaker is Keith Rolle, and he will not only share his wines with us, but also teach us what is happening now with urban wineries, and all about the grapes that he selects from Washington State and California. (In Italian, “buon uomo” means “good man.” Gianni is “beneducato” – that is, well mannered. He is the consummate gentleman. Like many Italians, Gianni is passionate about food and passionate about wine.) This is a 4-course dinner designed by Chef Accursio. The price is $84/person that includes 5 delicious wines from Gianni Buonomo. 6:45pm Dinner and 6:15pm Reception. RSVP!

July 23 - Salsa under the Stars at Liberty Station

Enjoy a beautiful evening of Latin music, Salsa dancing, and fine dining at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. At this FREE event you’ll have an opportunity to hear the Manny Cepeda Orchestra from 6 PM – 9 PM and take a dance lesson from Cori-ography Dance from 5 PM – 6 PM on the plaza right in front of The LOT luxury cinemas in ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. Enjoy a specially crafted meal at Solare Ristorante Italiano Bar & Lounge and stroll through ARTS DISTRICT studios, galleries, museums. It’s all happening here in Liberty Station.

June 30 - “Grazie Mille” Festa

Join us for the “Grazie Mille” Festa @ Solare Thursday, June 30!! We all got together and decided that it is a great idea to have a party to celebrate the “Best of San Diego” awards that we just received: Best Chef (Chef Accursio!) … Best Italian Restaurant … and Best Wine List (runner-up). We are delighted to recognize our customers and the San Diego community for your wonderful support. We simply cannot thank you enough – but we are going to try!

The theme is “An Italian Picnic” and the fun starts at 4pm and goes till 7pm. RSVP requests Required. It is an open house format so feel free to come at the beginning … come at the middle… or stay the whole time. We are doing a little tray-passing of fun small bites that Chef Accursio designed, and we have a whole spring lamb we prepared and other fun tastes. Note that this is not a full dinner at all, but a nice sample of Solare cuisine, there will be other dishes for purchase, and you can dine at Solare afterwards if you’d like (advance reservations recommended!). And, we have a great band (live music!). Bottom line: We are having fun here at Solare – it’s all thanks to you – so let’s have a celebration. It’s a Festa!!

June 25 - Solare+Fortaleza Tequila Tasting Dinner

Join me as I lead the 4-course dinner and tasting with an evening of fun details and photos of everything about agave, tequila, and Jalisco. June 24 - 9th Annual Wine & Music Festival ~ Women’s Museum of California

Solare will be at the 9th Annual fundraiser for the Women’s Museum of California, the WINE & MUSIC FESTIVAL, formerly the Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate Festival. The event is June 24th, the first Friday of the Summer, the last Friday of June, at 6 pm to 10 pm on the grassy North Promenade in front of the Women’s Museum at NTC Liberty Station in Point Loma, San Diego. Over 1000 wine lovers are expected to attend this year’s event. Tickets are on sale now at $35. This ticket will provide a seat in the concert area, and six wine tastings from local wineries. VIP tickets also available.
