April 13 - Future of Tuna Harbor – San Diego Food Systems Alliance

Join Chef Accursio and me for this event: Future of Tuna Harbor: Focus on Win-Win-Win — 2:45pm-7:00pm Port Pavilion

The future of San Diego Bay’s remaining working fishing harbors are currently being determined by the Port of San Diego’s Central Embarcadero “Seaport” development project. On April 13th, San Diego Food Systems Alliance is convening the region’s most important stakeholders to explore a better way forward. San Diego Bay’s fishing harbors are a longstanding lynchpin of the Bay’s working waterfront.

Tickets are $30, and include entry to a reception following the panel discussion featuring locally sourced gourmet seafood by San Diego’s chefs committed to procuring local, craft beer, mead, and local kombucha.

Solare is excited to be at Grand Tasting event of the 5th Annual VinDiego Wine and Food Festival – we’ve been here every year! Here are the details: San Diego, America’s finest city, will once again become the epicenter of the California wine world on Saturday, April 8. That’s when one of the largest wine events of the California and Oregon’s ultra-elite winemaking masters will assemble, for the fifth annual “VinDiego Wine and Food Festival” presented at the NTC Liberty Station in beautiful Point Loma. April 01 - April 02 - Latin American Art Festival @ Liberty Station

The Latin American Art Festival an annual event that presents outdoor exhibits, painting, sculpture, photography and printmaking among other disciplines, plus crafts, performing arts and culinary arts of Latin American countries. It is organized and run by Aida Valencia and it is a huge success each year. And it is right here in our own backyard. Solare will be at the event with Latin-inspired pizzas from our new mobile Wood-Fired Pizza Oven, Pizzeria al Volo!

March 26 - Margarite’s Amazing BYOM Event!

Margarite says: Friends, Food, Fun, Frivolity…Together served with magnums of great wine. Keeping the tradition 2017 in grand style with the ninth (9th) annual Bring Your Own Magnum (of your yummiest wine) Party, Sunday, March 26th 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at Solare Ristorante in Point Loma at Liberty Station. Red, white, or sparkling, it’s all good. We’ll sip and sample each magnum, while nibbling on light appetizers and sharing our resolutions for the New Year.

Featuring special guests: Wine Columnist Frank Mangio, of Taste of Wine TV; Michael Hurst of Ferrari Carano Vineyards, Please use your tastiest wine discretion. You may want to dine at Solare Ristorante when magnums go dry. For anyone interested in dinner reservations following the event, can make a Reservation; the full Solare menu is available, and there will be no corkage fee for anyone staying for dinner.

In addition, to enhance our celebration at BYOM, we thought it would be nice share with those less fortunate, especially as these have been challenging economic times for many. If you would like to contribute a non-perishable food item to St. Vincent De Paul Village of “Father’s Joe’s, http://my.neighbor.org, they would greatly appreciate the donation and a bin will be set up to collect them at the party. March 25 - Cooking Class – Authentic Pizza from Scratch

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make pizza in the authentic style from the renowned city of Napoli? How about a tasty Sfincione from Sicily; Focaccia from Liguria? Here is your perfect opportunity — Pizza Chef Brian will guide you through each step – starting with making the dough from scratch. Each student will take home extra dough to show off their pizza making skills that evening at home! The fun starts at 10:30am at Solare with an Italian-style coffee of your choice and a pastry. Italian wine is served for students interested in “cooking with wine”. – Class size limited — $75/student that includes the class, wine, and lunch. Contact us for details.
