June 16 - Italian Wine Dinner – Michele and Massimo Alois

I am honored to announce that Michele and Massimo Alois are here in San Diego for one day.

And we are doing a Wine Dinner with them!

They are here Tuesday, June 16. 

Michele and Massimo are the Founders and Winemakers at Alois Estate, located in the region of Campania in Italy. Their winery is located about 30 miles north of of the city of Napoli.

The Alois family has been continuously on this estate since the late 1400’s. Incredible.

They will share their story of the wines and their family history over the course of the evening. Magical!

We will be enjoying their estate wines, such as their Aglianico and also estate indigenous varietals of Campania like Casavecchia and Pallagrello.

June 07 - The Grand Italian Wine Showcase

A Special Announcement: The Grand Italian Wine  Showcase this Sunday – 4pm to 6pm at Solare.

38 wines from 8 Italian wine estates. People from each estate will be here in San Diego for this one day.

Chef Denice is creating Italian appetizers to enjoy with the tasting. $48. Great opportunity!

As I highlight in the video, an importer we really like called me yesterday to see if we can help with a tasting they had organized that needed a new venue. After seeing what they were thinking, we said “yes”!

June 03 - Solare Wine Dinner – Little Boat Winery with José Ignacio Cuenca

An evening of happy joy and wine and Italian cuisine with our good friend, José Ignacio Cuenca.

He is the owner of Little Boat winery in Sonoma. 

His wines are delicious – old world – and very food friendly.

And equally important: We have great respect and love for José. He is super charismatic – embraces life and wine and food and great experiences.

His wines are only available at restaurants (no retail) that he embraces. Like:

Per Se, Daniel, The French Laundry, Angelini Osteria, Jose Andres, Le Bernardin, Quince, and Gramercy Tavern. And Solare Ristorante. Wow.

May 24 - Special Sunday Lunch – Carlsbad Strawberry Company is Here!

Special Sunday Lunch at Solare Ristorante! 

The happy focus is the incredible strawberries from the Carlsbad Strawberry Company. 

Yes! We have co-owner and family member, Robyn Ukegawa, here.

The theme of the afternoon and our 4-course Italian menu is their delicious strawberries grown right here in Carlsbad.  Every course highlights their strawberries.

These strawberries are just perfect and right in season – and they only sell berries that are picked that morning. So the strawberries for this lunch will be picked fresh Sunday morning and Robyn will bring them to Solare.

This is extra special because this year, 2026, is the 50th Anniversary of the big “Judgment of Paris” tasting where Chateau Montelena was the winner and put Napa Valley on the map of the wine world.
