June 05 - Wine Dinner – An Evening with Napa Legend, Nils Venge
Just Announced – Next Wednesday, June 5 – I am delighted to announce that Mr. Nils Venge himself will be here at Solare to lead a very special Wine Dinner.
Nils is universally regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of the Napa Valley wine industry, garnering the first 100-point wine score ever for an American wine on his 1985 vintage of Groth Reserve Cabernet (Nils helped start Groth as winemaker & GM).
In 1993, Nils leaves Groth so that he can focus 100% on Saddleback Cellars. Nils at Saddleback makes incredible rich wines: Cab Sauvignon’s, Sangiovese, Merlot, Zinfandel, and more.
Hear firsthand from Nils how Napa really took off in the 1970’s and 80’s. Nils pursued his love of wine at the University of California in Davis where he earned a BS in Viticulture in 1967. In the Spring of 1970, he started working at Charles Krug Winery and the rest is history.
The evening with Nils starts with a Reception at 6:15pm followed by a 4-course dinner designed by Executive Chef Filippo Piccini. We will have 6 wines from Nils over the evening. The evening is $88 and that includes the 6 wines and the 4-course dinner. Reserve today via email or call 619-270-9670 asap – Seating Limited.

May 19 - “Heart of Spring” Dinner
Solare at our best! We are having our annual hyper-local “Heart of Spring” feast on Sunday, May 19, to celebrate the flavors and tastes of Spring in San Diego. This is extra-special as we will be doing the dinner outside on the lawn next to Solare … Under the Sky!
We have one long community table … and we have teamed with folks across San Diego County for all the ingredients and drinks. As examples, we are working with Tommy Gomes at Catalina Offshore to have a “caught that day” whole fish be prepared “gills to tail” for the dinner – and we will have lamb and more for meats. Farms and produce suppliers across San Diego are teaming with us too. And, of course, we are working with San Diego County wineries, breweries, and distillers of fine spirits.
And we have amazing Live Music with Stephen El Rey – his band performed last year too – so good! The dinner begins at 5pm ~ $125/person excluding tax/gratuity. Advance confirmed reservations and tickets required as this dinner is very limited in seating. Request an invitation today via email or call 619-270-9670. Yay!
