Solare’s pasta is made fresh every day – in our kitchen. This is an opportunity to see exactly how Chef Filippo Piccini makes that happen! He will teach you all the right techniques to enable you to make the best “pasta fresca” and perfect ravioli. This is a hands-on pasta making class where you will learn the classic dough techniques and so much more. The fun starts at 10:30am at Solare with an Italian-style coffee of your choice and a pastry. Our Cooking Classes offer a truly hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen allowing each student to create Italian cuisine themselves to make at home. Our classes are not a “demonstration”.

The classes are held pretty much every other Saturday, and the fun typically starts at 10:30am at Solare (10am for some classes) with an Italian-style coffee of your choice and a pastry. Italian wine is served for students interested in “cooking with wine”.

January 26 - Cooking Class – Authentic Pizza from Scratch

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make pizza in the authentic style from the renowned city of Napoli? How about a tasty Sfincione from Sicily; Focaccia from Liguria? Here is your perfect opportunity — Pizza Chef Brian will guide you through each step – starting with making the dough from scratch. This is very HANDS ON – you are learning to make pizza and not just watching someone else show you. Each student will take home extra dough to show off their pizza making skills that evening at home! January 20 - January 27 - San Diego Restaurant Week

Solare is participating in San Diego Restaurant Week this year – #SDRW! $40++ dinner and $20 lunch. We are excited! We are offering the special menu we designed for Restaurant Week as well as our “regular” lunch and dinner menus. Note that during Restaurant week, the last lunch seating is 2:45pm and then dinner service begins at 4:30pm. We will be open for drinks, wine, beer, cocktails, etc., all afternoon. December 31 - Solare New Year’s Eve Dinner & Party!

We are having a fabulous New Year’s Eve Dinner (4-course dinner) … and Party! Please plan on celebrating the New Year with the Solare Team. Here are the details: Special 4-course dinner that we disigned ~~ 69++/person for seatings from 4:30pm to 6:15pm ~~ $85++/person for seatings starting at 6:30pm (includes the Party that night and Champagne Toast) ~~ Full Bar ~~ Party goes till 2am. It was fun last year!

Special Note! The fine folks at the Marriott Courtyard right by Solare are making a limited block of rooms available to Solare customers at a reduced rate of $99 per night for New Year’s Eve (deadline December 27). That’s an incredible price available only by contacting us! You can party with us at Solare and then just grab a shuttle or walk to your room. This is what I am doing! First come first served for the hotel block. The dinner and block of rooms will also sell out.

December 29 - “Spirits of San Diego” Dinner with Tommy — The Spirits of the Holidays!

This is a fabulous “Spirits Dinner”! An evening with Tommy … and 4 San Diego Distillers (local spirits!). Yes, we are having a 4-course Dinner featuring “Farm to Bar” Cocktails by Tommy with 100% of the spirits coming from 4 local San Diego distilleries – and each cocktail featuring local produce, fruits, and herbs. For each course, you will enjoy a fun cocktail designed by Tommy to pair well with a dish in a collaboration with the Solare kitchen.
